S4 Geography students took part in a two-day, one-night field camp in Cheung Chau, after it was rescheduled due to an earlier typhoon. The theme of the camp was to explore agricultural systems, the impact of urban development on traditional farming activities, and the feasibility of high-tech agriculture for sustainable development. The field study took place in Mui Wo, where students collected soil samples from farmland and later conducted laboratory tests to examine soil pH, fertility, and texture, gaining insight into the role of natural inputs in agricultural systems. They also carried out field observations and drew a land use distribution map of agricultural areas in Mui Wo to analyze how urban development affects traditional farming. Through this field study, students acquired valuable knowledge through hands-on learning, returned with fruitful results, and enjoyed two rewarding and joyful days.
