’Hong Kong ICH and Ip Man Ving Tsun‘ project

Our school is honored to participate in the ’Hong Kong ICH and Ip Man Ving Tsun‘ project, led by our distinguished alumnus, Dr. Kaman Lee, Assistant Vice President of HKSYU.

Guided by Master Ip Kong-chiu (the grandson of Grandmaster Ip Man) and Master Dennis Lee, our teachers and students embarked on the ”Ip Man Ving Tsun Heritage Trail“ today. As the Qingming Festival approaches, the journey began with a floral offering to the Grandmaster, expressing our profound respect and practicing the martial virtue of ”honoring the teacher and the Way.“ We then visited the Sam Tai Tsz Temple and Tin Hau Temple in Sham Shui Po, exploring the original sites where the Grandmaster first resided and taught, reflecting on how he rooted Ving Tsun in Hong Kong through challenging times. Later, at the Ving Tsun Athletic Association, students had the precious opportunity to experience the Wooden Dummy and Six-and-a-Half Point Pole techniques.

Supported by the Education Bureau, this project highlights our dedication to intangible cultural heritage education. A short documentary about the tour will soon be available on the EDB website. All are welcome to view it and appreciate Ving Tsun as a treasured part of our intangible cultural heritage.
