Students from the Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Chinese History, and History departments recently ventured into the Sha Tau Kok Frontier Closed Area to explore its tourism development and history. The students visited the Old Sha Tau Kok Fire Station and the shophouse (arcade) building clusters to appreciate the unique architectural features of the area. Additionally, they reached the "Corner of Sha Tau Kok," where, separated only by a narrow stretch of sea, they enjoyed panoramic views of both Hong Kong and mainland China. The students also walked along the Sha Tau Kok Pier—the longest pier in Hong Kong—to experience the territory's magnificent harbor scenery. To conclude the activity, students worked in groups to present their reflections from the field trip, applying concepts learned in Tourism and Hospitality Studies to analyze and share unique insights on the development of tourism in Sha Tau Kok, thereby deepening their classroom learning and putting theory into practice.
