06/25

Dear Parents and Students,

This week marks our "Gospel and Thanksgiving Week." As we look back on 2025, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the many traces of God’s grace we have witnessed, each worth recounting one by one.

To start with, we give thanks for the school's evangelistic efforts. Through a student faith survey conducted earlier this year, we learned that many students are open to knowing the God but are unsure how to take the first step of faith. In response, we organized multiple "Bible Classes" to help students understand the truth of the Bible and the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. So far, over 80 students have participated, and many have made the decision to follow Christ. For this, we are deeply grateful.

Additionally, we designed the "Gospel Class 1.0" course for new believers and those interested in exploring the faith. The course covers topics such as the existence of God and who the true God is, the truth about Jesus and the reliability of the Bible, as well as the reality of human sin and the hope of Heaven. Since the beginning of the year, over 90 students have taken part in this program. We thank God for His continual care over the Pooi To family. Since 1888, it has been our mission "to foster the doctrines," proclaiming the gospel and spreading God's love.

During this Gospel and Thanksgiving Week, students from each class have expressed their gratitude for God's grace through hymn singing, testimonies, and sharing. On Thursday, various booths were set up with a theme of thanksgiving, guiding students to reflect on God's guidance over the past year. Through testimonies from teachers and students, as well as gospel-sharing sessions, the campus has been filled with an atmosphere of gratitude and hope.

Another reason for gratitude is witnessing how God brought "Tai Wong" into the Pooi To family. For ten years, Tai Wong lived on the outskirts of our campus, coexisting peacefully with our teachers and students, becoming a unique part of our school's landscape. However, in May 2025, he fell ill. We immediately took him to the veterinarian. Despite his advanced age of ten, we decided to proceed with surgery, unable to bear seeing him suffer. The surgery was successful, but Tai Wong grew noticeably thinner afterward. When he returned to his free life on campus, everyone was overjoyed to have him back.

Unfortunately, five weeks later, his condition relapsed, and Tai Wong wandered away from the campus again. The veterinarian advised that a second surgery was not only urgent, but his only chance of survival. Unwilling to give up on this cat who had been part of Pooi To for a decade, we worked together to bring him back, and by God's grace, the second surgery was a success.

In August 2025, the IMC decided to let Tai Wong reside in the school office. Transitioning from a free life outdoors to living in a cage was a significant adjustment for him, so to help him adapt with love and care, we established the "Tai Wong Care Team," where students take turns looking after him, collectively safeguarding this precious life. We are grateful for the love and concern shown by the Pooi To family, which has helped Tai Wong gradually adjust to his new environment. Perhaps the meaning of life lies not in the size of one's space, but in the love and warmth that flows within it. It is this very warmth that made Tai Wong feel loved and willing to stay.

We also give thanks to God for the smooth progress of learning and teaching since the beginning of the 2025/26 school year. Although Hong Kong experienced quite a few severe storms, school operations were not significantly affected. However, some activities, such as the S.1 and S.4 camps, had to be rescheduled. We are thankful that all of the camps and the House-based Activity Day in November were eventually completed successfully. These included the S.1 Training Camp, the S.2 and S.4 Growth Camps, the S.3 Leadership Training Camp, the S.5 Civic Mainland Study Tour, and the S.6 Graduation Camp.

Through these experiences, we witnessed students building one another up, encouraging each other, learning to communicate effectively, and developing team spirit. They came to understand that academics and character development are equally important—education is not merely the transmission of knowledge but also the connection and communion of lives.

May we continue to count the footsteps of God’s grace with thankful hearts, and may the power born from God's love continue to flow, take root, and bear fruit in the Pooi To family.

Best Regards,

C. Cheung
